Build.com Return Policy

You have 180 days of receipt to initiate a return for most products. Certain items may be ineligible for returns or may need to be returned sooner, so be sure to check your receipt for pertinent info. Items cannot be returned after 181 days of receipt of order.

Build. com is the best place to buy products online. With every purchase, we stand behind our goods and promise your satisfaction.

Build. Com guarantees to deliver top-notch goods to your door in top condition. If your shipment is not satisfactory for any reason, we will be happy to replace it or accept a return of the goods.

The following items may be returned for a refund:

  • Merchandise that has not been removed from its original packing
  • Defective merchandise
  • Merchandise that was mispacked or was not shipped correctly
  • Merchandise that has not been installed

Build. com accepts returns up to 90 days after the order is placed. Returns have no minimum amount and are not subject to restocking fees.

Build. com is not liable for any labor charges incurred as a result of installing incorrect or flawed parts. In addition, we’re not responsible for lost shipments. Instead, you must contact the appropriate shipper to make a lost shipment freight claim. Finally, merchandise must have not been damaged in freight transit.

Some items Build. com sells can be ordered over the phone but are not listed in our online catalog. It might not be possible to return a special order item if you order it by calling our toll-free number or contacting us. If the product is flawed or damaged, we will either fully reimburse you OR send you a replacement if the original is still on the market. If you have any questions about this return policy or any other aspect of our return policy, please call our customer service number.

We can process general returns and refunds only for items purchased from Build.com or one of its affiliates. To set up a general return online you can visit our returns tool here. All general returns must be set up within 90 days from the day you receive your product. To receive a refund, please make sure of the following:

  • All returned merchandise must be in resalable condition
  • The product must be free from scratches and/or defects
  • All merchandise cannot have been installed
  • You must have the original packaging for the item
  • No writing or labels are permitted on the product’s packaging.
  • The customer must return packages using a traceable service, like FedEx or UPS. Please do not use USPS.
  • All items must be returned with the return authorization (RGA) number that was given to them. Items returned without an RGA number may delay credit.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Only defective items marked “Clearance” are eligible for returns. Due to the nature of clearance sales, please be aware that we might not be able to provide a replacement for a damaged clearance item.

Due to shipping restrictions on hazardous materials, gas-powered items that have been filled with gasoline are not returnable. Once fuel is added to the tank, the product is immediately no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. If you want to find a service center close to you, you can get in touch with us or the manufacturer.

Other items that have not yet shipped can also be canceled. Call our customer service department right away if you want to cancel an order before it ships. You must complete a general return once an item or order has shipped because it cannot be canceled after that point.

Defective Returns

We can process defective returns and refunds only for items purchased from Build.com or one of its affiliates. To set up a defective return online you can visit our returns tool here. All defective returns must be set up within 60 days from the day you receive your product. There are no restocking fees on defective returns.

Campbell Hausfeld is one of the manufacturers that does not accept returns for defective items. Instead, products must be delivered to or picked up from an authorized service center where they will be examined and, at the manufacturer’s discretion, repaired or replaced.

Returns from Canada

We strive to streamline the returns process. Please be aware that whenever you send something back across the border, regardless of whether it is for a general or defective return, customs will require specific documents in order to clear the shipment. When you return the items, we will give you these documents and specific instructions on where to put them so that you won’t be charged any taxes or duties and that they pass through customs quickly.

Please adhere to all the guidelines provided with your return authorization. Processing Canadian returns may take an additional 1-2 business days because we need to create all necessary customs documents.

Returns via mail

To send your return by mail, simply follow the simple instructions below:

To process your return and obtain a return goods authorization (RGA) number, get in touch with our returns department by phone or email. Within two business days of setting up your return, you’ll get an email with an RGA number. You will be given a ship-to address along with this return number, where you must send your goods. Be sure to include your RGA number with your merchandise. In order to ensure that you receive your credit, this number will be used. Note: If you send us a product back without an RGA number, you might be charged more for the return.

  • To avoid paying any additional shipping costs, include the product with all of its original manuals, packaging, and accessories.
  • For proof of delivery, we advise returning items via UPS or insured postal service. Please make sure that the items are packaged securely to prevent damage during the return trip to our warehouse.
  • You are responsible for all freight charges. However, if the product is faulty or the incorrect item was shipped, you will be reimbursed for all reasonable and customary freight charges associated with that item.

Refunds

Once we’ve received and processed the returned item, we’ll send you an email to let you know when you can expect your refund. PLEASE NOTE: We will only pay for shipping costs if the return is due to our mistake.

We will do our best to process the return quickly. Please allow 14-21 days for processing. Only the original purchasing credit card account number will receive refunds. Please allow an additional 14–21 days for check delivery by USPS if you paid by check.
